Mision Mexico
”Albergue, Mision Mexico, Dando Amor, Vida y Esperanza, AC” (Refuge, Mission Mexico, Giving Love, Life and Hope) currently provides care for an average of 34 children, the majority of whom are there on permanent basis. These children, boys and girls aged between three and 18, have been orphaned, abandoned, abused or come from extreme poverty. Over the past six years, Mision Mexico has helped around 200 children from various circumstances of need.
Alan and Pam Skuse, an Australian couple from the Sunshine Coast, Qld, arrived in Tapachula, Chiapas, in November 2000 to volunteer for 12 months in an orphanage. The organisation they came to work with however was forced to close down within six months. Not willing to simply abandon the children in their care, Alan and Pam made the decision to leave their comfortable lives in Australia and establish their own refuge for the children in Tapachula; and so, ‘Mision Mexico, Giving Love, Life and Hope’ was born.

Love, Life and hope are elements present in all our lives that we essentially take for granted, but for the orphaned, abandoned, abused and disadvantaged children of Tapachula, attaining these things is a constant struggle, if attainable at all, that is, without the help of the Mision Mexico.
All of the children at Mision Mexico attend school. For many of the children, going to school, and receiving an education are opportunities they would not have, had Pam and Alan not received them into their home.

Many children that arrive at the refuge have suffered unbelievable acts of violence against them and experienced things no child should. The refuge for them represents a family home rather than an institution, where the children can feel loved and secure.
The growing number of children seeking refuge at the Love, Life and Hope refuge, means that the building of a new facility is required to provide a loving, stable home that can help a larger number of children.
To realize this vision, your help is needed.
