On the 13 of November 2011 the Annual General Meeting was held in the hope that a new committee would be established to continue the operation of MAWAI. Unfortunately this did not occur.

Is with great sadness that I need to inform you all that MAWAI is no longer operating and does not exist as an organisation.

MAWAI is proud to support Mission Mexico

Mission Mexico is a refuge for children in Tapachula, Chiapas. It was established  by Australian couple Alan and Pamela Skuse, who left their home on the Sunshine Coast of Australia to dedicate themselves to helping kids in need in southern Mexico.

In 2000, Alan and Pamela flew to Mexico to volunteer for 12 months in an orphanage in Tapachula. Unfortunately, the organisation closed down after six months, leaving them with a life changing decision to make.

The thought of leaving the kids, who would go back to the streets, was not an option. And so ‘Albergue, Mision Mexico, dando Amor, Vida y Esperanza” (Refuge, Mission Mexico, giving Love, Life and Hope) was born.
